No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
