Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Annie Duke may not have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but Annie is one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited WSOP win came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker run amok following a big win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mommy" to her four kids. She hails from New Hampshire and grew up in a family of poker players. If you do not believe that, have a look at her brother, Howard Lederer, when he plays, who taught her how-to compete in the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has earned her cut of challenging matches, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on several occasions.

Earning over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a advisor to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to sharpen his abilities to become a power player at the poker table.

You might notice her at the Bellagio, you will catch her on television and you may even compete with her in a web poker match, but don’t bank on a simple win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it is likely to be cool to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
