NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
