No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
