NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
