NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
