No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
