Focus on Annie Duke

Annie Duke may not have captured her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most feared poker competitors at the live action games at The Bellagio in sin city. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "buried game" of Omaha hi/lo.

While players from the "younger generation" of poker go wild following a large win at the tables, Annie goes back home to be "mom" to her 4 children. She grew up in New Hampshire into a family of poker players. If you don’t believe that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who educated her how to bet on the game.

However, Mrs. Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has won her share of demanding tables, including knocking out Howard along the way on a couple of occasions. They’re both players that have the ability to acquire the large $$$$$ and do it with a smile.

Annie is a tough competitor at any table considering that she is a true poker player, but it’s a little more than simply being great at the game. Annie Duke is incredibly smart and graduated from Columbia U where she double majored in English and Psychology.

When you are seated across from Annie at the table you know Annie is there to compete in the game and she starts "summing" you up from the time you approach the poker table. If you can not compete like a camp, then do not bother.

Earning over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Annie became a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wished to hone his techniques and develop into a power at the tables.

You may glimpse her at the Bellagio, you’ll definitely notice Annie on the tv and you might even play against her in an online poker match, but don’t count on an easy win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you won’t defeat her. Although, it’d be exciting to mention you played at the at the table with "The Duke".
